Best Cheap Air Impact Wrench Reviews 2017

Thinking of buying an air impact wrench? Well, before you spring the cash for one, I think it’s a good idea if you could spend a just a few short minutes to read some of the air impact wrench reviews on display here.

I’m a mechanic currently plying my trade in an auto repair shop in Batavia, Ohio. Been doing what I’m doing now for years so I’m pretty familiar with quite a number of air, electric, as well as battery powered impact wrenches on the market. See, you gotta be careful before buying one. Some air impact wrenches out there are utterly crap!

I’ve had the displeasure of using some of the crappiest ever made. There was this one air impact wrench I used a couple years back which had almost zero power. Tried taking out lug nuts with it but the darn thing didn’t work didly-squat. Heck, could’ve taken them off with my hands and that would’ve done the job a lot faster. Luckily I was at work so had plenty of other wrenches to choose from.

Anyway, that’s just one example. There’re plenty more issues like impact wrenches with lousy tight triggers, flimsy handles, etc. Oh, and some wrenches can be super loud which can be annoying for a lot of people, some tend to jam up regularly, excessive shaking, or go kaput after just a couple of times of usage. I noticed that mostly the cheaper ones tend to have these problems.

Hence the reason why I set up this air impact wrench reviews site (actually my little tech whiz nephew set it up, I just put up the reviews during my usually meaningless spare time). Right so; I want to help you find the best impact wrench for your hard earned buck.

Here’s a good piece of advice before you check out the air impact wrench reviews below…

It doesn’t matter whether you’re looking for a 3/8-inch, 1/2-inch, 3/4-inch corded or cordless electric impact wrench, an air impact wrench, or a cordless battery powered impact wrench, if you wish to experience full satisfaction from you purchase, I’d suggest you stick with proven brands such as Ingersoll-Rand, NitroCat, Chicago Pneumatic, DEWALT, andMilwaukee.

There are other decent brands as well like Hitachi, Bosch, Makita, etc but from my experience the five brands I mentioned earlier rarely disappoint with their line of high quality impact wrenches. Review of the Best 1/2 Air Impact Wrench – Ingersoll-Rand 2135TiMAX

Okay, the Ingersoll-Rand 2135TiMAX you see here is really the best 1/2 air impact wrench on the market. No question about its “juice” so to speak. I mean the tool is darn powerful! It’s effective at breaking a lot of things loose. I remember my first experience using this thing.  I ran it at the lowest power and put it to the test on some stubborn lug nuts and they broke loose with extreme ease. Honestly, I didn’t crank up the setting at all. I thought, “Man…This thing here’s a monster!

Been using this baby almost on a daily basis and still loving it. I recently brought it on some rusty cross member bolts and it didn’t take a long time to get those sorted out. The IR 2135TiMAX has so much torque. It offers 750 ft. /lbs. max reverse torque so as far as power goes, you certainly won’t be disappointed.

What might disappoint you though is the noise it produces. According to the product description page (which you can view here), the Ingersoll-Rand 2135TiMAX lets you “Enjoy incredible power and control without all the noise thanks to patented Quiet Tool technology.” To be honest it’s a bit loud. I mean it’s not overly loud to the point of annoying the crap out of you, but it is slightly noisy.

Truth is I don’t find the sound annoying at all, but a buddy of mine who keeps an IR 2135TiMAX at his place thinks otherwise. However, he still uses the darn thing on almost all of his car projects! Anyway, another thing I like about the 2135TiMAX is how light it feels in my hand.

If you have one in your hand and pull the trigger, you’ll know what I’m talking about. I’m pretty amazed because the thing is so powerful, yet so darn light.  And trust me, you don’t have to worry about the 2135TiMAX shaking excessively and taking your hand all over the place. The lightness and anti-shaking effect means that in terms of control, the 2135TiMAX scores 10/10 in my book.

I also love its durability. This baby really holds up well because I’ve dropped it quite a few times. Once I dropped it pretty hard and so far, I’ve yet to have any problems with it. All in all, this lightweight 4 lbs tool is powerful and awesome in general.

It comes with a 2 year limited warranty and although the price is a bit on the high side, this air impact wrench is still a pretty good deal because if you take good care of it, regular grease and oil, the 2135TiMAX will last for many, many years. I reckon 8 – 10 years at least.

But you really shouldn’t just take my word for it; I suggest you read other users’ reviews on this air impact wrench by using the link below. You can also acquire the Ingersoll-Rand 2135TiMAX at a pretty good price including free shipping thru this link.

AirCat 1300-TH 3/8-Inch Composite Air Impact Wrench Reviews

  More Details Here

Are you looking for one of the best 3/8 air impact wrenches on the market? The one pictured above is a Nitrocat AC1300-TH and this 3/8 air impact wrench is a wallop! This baby gives you a maximum torque of 400 ft-lbs so needless to say, its power is pretty impressive. You want those stubborn nuts and bolts to be taken off quickly? Then AC1300-TH will do the job at lightning speed.

Well, not really “lightning speed” but super quick, definitely. I’m telling you, this tool runs so quickly that bolts can be removed in an almost instantaneous manner. Yup, believe it or not, it’s that QUICK. And aside from its very pleasing power, what I really love about the AC1300-TH is that it does operate very quietly.

You know, some manufactures would advertise their air impact wrenches as tools that are not only powerful but also runs quietly. Case in point: The 2135TiMAX I reviewed above. While it’s indeed a great little air impact wrench, it’s not really that quiet. However, I can say for sure that the AC1300-TH is one of the quietest air impact wrenches I’ve ever used. Another plus point is the tool’s decent durability thanks to its strong composite housing.

The AirCat AC1300-TH has a total of three variable speeds and the setting can be changed with ease. A paddle switch is located on the tool’s handle so to select the speed you desire; all you have to do is give the switch a quick flick. This air impact wrench is a tad bit heavy, but it’s not tiring to use because the grip and handle comfort level is excellent.

I think the standout features of the AC1300-TH model is its minimal noise level and the super comfy grip. Sure the tool is powerful and all, but when you first start using it, the two things you’ll notice from the get-go is the comfortable ergonomic handle which really fits your hand and the minimal sound it produces. If you want to buy it and get free delivery, or perhaps you’d like to read more AirCat 1300-TH air impact reviews written by other users, please use the link right below.

Ingersoll-Rand 261 3/4-Inch Super Duty Air Impact Wrench Reviews

Heh, this IR 261 impact wrench looks like some ray gun I saw in an old black & white alien invasion movie. Yeah, it may look a little cheesy but you better not judge a book by its cover because this 3/4 air impact wrench packs some serious power.

It has the ability to produce torque of up to 1,100 ft. /lbs. See, told you, that’s some serious power right there. The IR 261 is perfect for heavy duty usage. You know like maybe you want to put on or take off duals for tractors, perhaps you have some heavy farm equipment projects to work on, removing stubborn pinion nuts, track pads, etc.

The IR 261 comes pretty handy for handling the aforementioned tasks. Now, on the product detail page, a reviewer stated the following: “my wrench has removed many stubborn yoke nuts that a 1 inch impact could not budge.” Yup, I totally agree with this fellow.

See, recently I was working on a jeep Comanche and I had an extremely tough time breaking loose the yoke nut. So I brought the IR 261 on the darn thing and bingo! This cheesy ray gun lookalike got the stupid yoke taken off without a hitch.

And that’s just one example. I remember a couple weeks before that. There was this old Volvo grain truck and I wanted to pull off the lugs, but they were bloody stubborn you see. So once again, it’s the 3/4 IR 261 to the rescue. Took about 4 – 6 blows to break loose each stubborn lug. The IR 261 air impact wrench has received overwhelmingly positive reviews from many automotive techs and it’s hardly a surprise because the thing is not only powerful, it’s also tough and the maintenance, is pretty much trouble free.

Its average air consumption is around 9.5 cubic feet per minute (CFM). The only bad thing I could say about Ingersoll-Rand’s 261 impact wrench is the tool feels a little on the heavy side. Well, it’s not really a “bad” thing but I consider it a flaw in my book. Wish it was a tad bit lighter. Overall it’s a wonderful product and should you wish to buy or acquire more info on it, just use the underlined blue link below.

DEWALT DC823B 3/8-Inch Cordless Battery Powered Impact Wrench Reviews (Without Battery)

Although this site is mainly about air impact wrenches, I thought I should just go ahead and do a brief review of a really superb 3/8 cordless battery powered impact wrench. What you’re seeing up there is a picture of the DEWALT 3/8 inch cordless impact wrench which I think is a great looking tool.

I love its color combination of yellow and black. Such color scheme makes the thing very easy to spot, especially if you’re working in a big auto car shop and tools of all shapes and sizes are lying here and there.

Okay so right, wonderful color combo, but what about the performance? Is it any good? Well, the DEWALT DC823B has decent power that’s for sure. It provides 1,500 inch/pounds of torque so the tool is capable of completing various fastening tasks. It’s such a convenient tool to have around. If there’s a component with plenty of screws on it, this battery operated impact wrench could get them all out pronto.

Of course it has enough juice take out the lug nuts off your car, tighten bolts, etc. The DEWALT DC823B 3/8- inch does all these things pretty quickly. And speaking of “juice”, you’ll need to supply it to the tool using these batteries:

See, the 18- volt tool doesn’t come with batteries thus you have to purchase them separately. The rechargeable batteries you see up there are capable of powering all DEWALT’s 18V cordless battery operated impact wrenches. They’re top quality and will last for quite a while.

Now the best thing about using the 3/8-inch DEWALT DC823B is that since it’s a battery powered impact wrench, usage is definitely less of a hassle compared to an air impact wrench. You know the latter can be a bit of a hassle to use at times what with the need to hook it up to a compressor via a hose. So such setup could be a bit tedious to some people.

Control/ handling wise, I’d say the tool is decent enough in that department. The ergonomic handle feels comfortable and vibration is minimal. You’ll love this tool I’m sure because it’s top-notch in every vital aspect including, performance, handling, durability, and battery life. The price is decent as well. I’ll put a link below so you can obtain more info on it.
